I am pretty much amazed to see in the newspapers / magazines in Romania spell checking mistakes; I mean, sure, you can have mistakes of grammar, punctuation, logic, semantics; it’s natural, we’re humans; but for spell checking, in Romanian or English, there are spell checkers which warn you of possible mistakes;
Yet, the newspapers are (in my opinion) filled with such mistakes;
The requirement for diacritics to use for spell checking should not be a problem, either – you can write the text with diacritics, do the check spelling, and then search & replace the diacritics with no diacritics; or use a macro:

My solution is not fool-proof, but it’s better than the current one – no check spelling at all.
Last week I was at a conference at National Peasant’s Museum. Costi ROGOZANU put a question to the audience that really struck me: How much of you is really Romanian? How many of the things that define you come from Romania? How do you spend your time in a Romanian-specific way? How much of the music you listen to, of the books you read, of the web sites you visit are from Romania?
