The end of creativity (or, at least, the creativity-boosting brainstorming exercises)
In May 2011 I started an exercise for creativity; I wanted to make it:
- Force my creativity (in the last part of the exercise I had to write three different thoughts about the same question; to answer a question in three different ways);
- Help me discover deeper meanings of something (by focusing a lot on a single question, I could get deeper insights into it);
- Help me structure more (I would be better, I thought, in structuring my mind);
After a while, I started not to like the exercise; each morning – more tasks, pretty much the same, the value started to fade;
The trouble is – the exercise did well, but I can do better; I can have a bigger impact with things by writing on my blog, for example; and forced focusing on a thing just doesn’t work; and I appreciate, today, more the “real” communication than the one with the computer in front of me.
So, my exercise stops today.
On a brighter side, I do write memory exercises – trying to hold some memory of my life, as it passes me by; so, I’ll still do (some) sort of writing.
