On reading

What I like to read, why old is new and solutions on reading, why I read?- all these are answered in this blog post.

I like to read; I read:
- Newspapers & books while I ride the metro/train/bus/car;
- Blogs and news while I’m online;
- Some books on the PC;

I think it’s interesting to see that things that are recent, 21st-century materials tend to appear more valuable than “old” stuff; not to me; I like to read old newspapers & magazines, and I consider some “old” books as fine today as they were before;

How to read? Things are simple:

  • Although I can read quite fast, I don’t force myself to learn fast reading; when reading for pleasure/self development, I don’t need too many things to rush through my head; a normal-pace reading will do just fine;
  • I like to jot down the things that impress me;
  • Naturally, whether I want it or not, when reading I think of other things also; sometimes I get an insight, I want to do a thing; well, I can’t really do this thing, I’m reading (usually on a metro, so it’s hard to implement); how to remember the thought? Put it on the phone, or write it on a paper; that’s my solution.

Why I read?

  • First of all, for self-development; yeah, it sounds like old-school – “You want to get better by reading?”, but reading texts actually makes me think about things quite a lot; very good exercise;
  • I really like discovering things, finding out new things, getting insights, seeing new perspective, being a better me; so, it’s enjoyment also;
  • Yes, I also read for getting up-to-date with the latest trends in my job.

How about you?
